3 JUNE – The EMZI Convention Hall at SP Plaza, Sungai Petani, has hosted the Menjulang Syariat Korban Programme. This event, dedicated to deepening the understanding of the Islamic practice of korban (ritual animal sacrifice; usually cow, goat and sheep), aims to enlighten participants on its spiritual significance, rulings and application according to Islamic teachings. The sermon will be delivered by Dato’ Haji Rosli bin Othman, an independent preacher. The program will be officiated by Tuan Syeikh Ahmad Muzammil bin Yub, BCK, the Religious Officer of Kuala Muda District.
With an emphasis on religious scholarship and practical guidance, the program seeks to strengthen attendees’ understanding and appreciation of korban as an essential act of devotion in Islam. It is especially timely in the lead-up to Eid al-Adha, when Muslims worldwide perform korban to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith and obedience to Allah’s command.
More than just a ritual, korban also serves as a unifying force within the community. By sharing meat with the poor and less fortunate, it fosters empathy, narrows social divides and promotes values of generosity and inclusion. The communal participation in korban helps cultivate a sense of solidarity, making it a vital contributor to social harmony and collective spiritual growth.
