PERMATANG PAUH, PENANG – On August 28, the GCEO of EMZI Group, Tuan Haji Mohammad Faizal bin Zainon, was announced as the UiTM Alumni Icon 2024 during the UiTM Alumni Gala Night held at UiTM Permatang Pauh, Penang. Tuan Haji Faizal, a 2009 graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a former UiTM Student Representative Council (MPP) member (2007/2008), received this award in recognition of his outstanding achievements in business and his active contributions to charitable causes.
Tuan Haji Faizal began his business career in 2012 and today, EMZI Group has comprises eight companies and an industrial laboratory, EMZI Nano-Core. From the onset, he has been deeply involved in humanitarian causes, demonstrated by EMZI Group’s status as one of the largest zakat contributors in Kedah for 2022 and 2023. These zakat contributions have significantly aided those in need, as reflected in EMZI’s name, which stands for Ekonomi Muslim Zakat Islam.
During the event, Tuan Haji Faizal also took the opportunity to visit the EMZI Nano-Core Lab at UiTM Permatang Pauh. This lab is a collaborative effort between EMZI Group and UiTM, where researchers from both entities work hand in hand to develop EMZI products. This initiative is one of the ways he gives back to the institution that shaped him, further strengthening his bond with his alma mater. As Tuan Haji Faizal eloquently said, “You always remember the place where you fell, let alone where you once played.”
